Observatorio EsadeGeo Fundación Repsol de Geopolítica de la Transición Energética
Esade Madrid · Wednesday, October 22 · 09:30 h - 11:15 h
The European Union’s plan to ban sales of internal combustion engine vehicles by 2035 marks a decisive step toward its climate and sustainability objectives, aiming to accelerate the shift to sustainable mobility. Yet this transition raises complex challenges, from regulatory uncertainty and the high costs of technological adaptation to concerns about industrial competitiveness and the role of emerging alternatives like synthetic fuels and hydrogen.
This roundtable will examine how the EU can design a stable regulatory framework that reduces uncertainty for producers and consumers, while safeguarding Europe’s competitive position against regions with less restrictive policies. It will also address the viability of alternative low-emission technologies and explore how regulatory choices can balance environmental ambition with economic and industrial realities.
