The Geopolitics of Energy Sovereignty: The EU's Strategic Agenda
EsadeGeo, in collaboration with the Representation of the European Commission in Spain, is organising the 14th edition of its Global Annual Energy Meeting, a forum that brings together business leaders and public sector representatives to discuss how energy policy, geopolitics, and regulation shape Europe's strategic position in the medium term.
This edition will focus on the geopolitics of the European Union as seen through the lens of the Commission's energy agenda. Commissioner for Energy and Housing, Dan Jørgensen, will speak on the key policy initiatives currently being advanced from his portfolio. This includes the Commission's policy response and coordination efforts in the wake of the US/Israel-Iran conflict and its implications for European energy security, as well as the Affordable Energy Action Plan, the Clean Energy Investment Strategy, the Clean Industrial Deal, and the ongoing work to phase out Russian fossil fuel imports and strengthen the EU's energy security framework. At a moment marked by heightened geopolitical tension, transatlantic uncertainty, and persistent energy price pressures, Commissioner Jørgensen will address the measures the European Union must pursue to consolidate its energy sovereignty, reduce strategic vulnerabilities, and maintain industrial competitiveness in an increasingly fragmented global order.
